Consists of MARK STONE RIVER on lead vocals and longtime friend DARREN KNIGHT on guitar and harmonies, playing their own brand of acoustic guitar-based indie, folk, rock, pop songs. The guys have known each other a long time and have been in bands together over the years starting with Happy As Larry and concluding with This Black Static. They first got together as a duo around mid-2017 after the tragic and way too soon passing of Darren’s wife. These get-togethers started out as what can best be described as “therapy jams” which were part of Darren’s grieving/healing process, and it was during these sessions that the first RIVER KNIGHT song was written. That first song was HEAVEN’S DOOR, and over the course of the remaining time in 2017 and early 2018 that song was added to by the likes of SENSE OUT OF CRISIS and SHE CAME ROUND. What’s more, the fellas had also been jamming through some cover songs by artists such as Craig David and Gloria Gaynor amongst others, and sometime around February 2018 they came to the conclusion that they were on to a good thing so decided to make the pairing an official thing and RIVER KNIGHT was born.
Becky Brown is a singer-songwriter from the southeast. Her songwriting is influenced by pop singer-songwriters such as Taylor Swift, Lauren Aquilina and Nina Nesbitt. She is also heavily inspired by pop punk artists including the likes of Paramore and Avril Lavigne. Last year, Becky released her debut EP, ‘Gone’, from which the single ‘Insomnia’ was played on BBC Music Introducing. On Sunday 20th October, her second EP, ‘Drinking in the sunlight’, releases which includes the singles ‘Bubbles’, ‘Just met you’ and her ‘James Bond theme soundtrack,’ ‘I wish you well.’
Indie – Folkie – (sometimes protest-y) tales. With lyrics influenced by likes of Billy Bragg, The Smiths, Frank Turner and I Am Kloot, Simon’s songwriting draws on the folk tradition of relatable real-life stories and contemporary social themes, occasionally with a kitchen sink drama edge, together with reflections on his northern upbringing.
My name might be common, but my style is alternative. I’m Charlie Smith a raw, honest, singer-songwriter from Hampshire, UK. I host and perform at my own shows at venues such as The Railway Inn, The Attic & The Arthouse. In October 2023 I embarked on my first solo tour of northern England. My latest EP ‘Here He Comes Now’ was released on the 24th of May. Clocking in at just shy of 10 minutes it is an express 5 Track acoustic punk EP. The theme of the EP is the idea that certain things cannot be erased or forgotten. The lyrics evoke feelings of introspection, reflection, and renewal, as the individual grapples with their inner turmoil and seeks to find solace. All tracks were recorded on the Tascam Model 12 at my mini-home studio. Featuring a single mic technique with minimal use of effects to simulate an authentic, intimate sound.
Based on the UK south coast singer/ songwriter Anna Muir crafts songs to drive, scream and cry to. Blending introspective themes with dynamic and intriguing melodies, Anna’s music is characterised by dream-like guitar tones driven by intimate yet powerful vocals. Visceral and honest storytelling is the pillar of Anna’s writing process. Drawing from the likes of Phoebe Bridgers, Elliott Smith and Radiohead, she carefully constructs every song with a perfectionist precision. Her 2024 debut single ‘Lost on me’ was well received reaching number 1 on the South Coast Music chart.
