This Saturday, 30 July, Southampton City Council are hosting the Big Green Event being delivered by the Southern Sustainability Partnership.
The day will be packed with stalls from sustainable businesses and organisations where you can shop, see the latest green transport solutions, watch demonstrations and ask experts questions from greener living to climate change. The event at the O2 Guildhall will also extend outside to the Guildhall Square where visitors can explore the co-event, Big Green Wheels, hosting green transport options such as electric and hybrid cars and vans and even test drive a Tesla. Alongside vehicle charging experts and solutions, displays of bikes, cargo bikes, scooters and an opportunity for a bike ‘check-up’ from The My Journey Bike Doctor.
Southampton City Council’s Big Green Event will be the largest, free green event of its kind in the city. A family friendly event, there will be something for all ages to enjoy. The day will host 50 stalls, including partners from My Journey, Hampshire & Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust, Forestry Commission, Southampton National Park City, the Environment Centre, Friends of the Earth and Greenpeace. Interactive sessions such as a pre-loved fashion show alongside question-and-answer sessions in the Green Advice Hub – covering topics from air source heating to saving water, to solar energy and achieving financial objectives that don’t impact our planet.
There will be something for everyone and even the youngest visitors can enjoy free marine and wildlife themed face painting – sponsored by Associated British Ports. Visitors can even explore a big bus courtesy of the Go Southcoast Bluestar Air Filter Bus team. As well as see a real working beehive, learn about composting, followed by a lesson in how to make an eco-Christmas cracker.

The Big Green Event is taking place at the 02 Guildhall and Guildhall Square, Southampton, this Saturday 30 July between 11.00am and 3.30pm. Entry is free.
